Happy 2011

I enter 2011 as my 18th year doing photography. It was a great 2010 professional and personal. Thanks to all the bands, artist, editors and people i met on the street who let me take their picture. I hope to continue to bring you ruthless street portraits for a long time!!

The Homie VITAL

I met VITAL through one of my clients. He was cool to shoot too. I wanted to capture some portraits that had a strong presence and an intense look. As I was shooting I was telling him that I was surprised noone had come through yet to bother us like the railroad police. No more than a few a minutes passed when a cop came and treated us like we were doing something so horrific. We are only taking some pictures and that is it. We had to give a whole explanation as to what we were doing. He made me lose my concentration!!

New Era

One of my clients over at Starstrcuk records has his new material coming out. Younghype is a hip hop artist based out of Long Beach and performs regularly in LA. He has been a great client and wish him much success with this new project.

Girls night out!!!

I was doing a photoshoot with artist Bodega Man and Uniteus a few months back for a collaboration album they are working on. As we were wrapping up the session one of those unexpected moments occured. On our way back to the parking lot we noticed an entrance to a club and it was beginning to fill up. I noticed these girls getting ready to go in and the opportunity was too good to pass so I just asked "would you mind smiling for the camera" and as if on cue they did these poses and I snapped 1 photo. I hope to add this to the exhibition collection for 2011. Its called "Girls night out"

FUNAKI x ROCK THIZ MAGAZINE

FUNAKI is the November issue of Rock Thiz Magazine. They featured some of my portraits from my street portrait series. It always cool to see my pictures publish because I work pretty hard on them. I still like that feeling that the people I take pictures of and my style is pure underground. Many of these portraits are done on the spur of the moment with really no set up or planning. Those are the ones that usually turn up best. All of these images were shot on film,using no photoshop of manipulation to the images. Thanks to Rock Thiz magazine for taking interest in my photos!!!

I took some images of Artist Sal. I met him a few months ago and liked how he carries himself and thought he as a pretty cool look. I took these shots in like 10 minutes.
